The ‘United States Post Office honored Gwen Ifill, one of America’s most esteemed journalists, with a Black Heritage USA Forever’ stamp in her image. She was among the first African Americans to hold prominent positions in both broadcast and print journalism. Gwen Ifill was the moderator and managing editor of “Washington Week” and senior correspondent for “The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer.” She served as Chief Congressional and Political Correspondent at NBC for five years and covered national political campaigns, national and local affairs for the Washington Post, the Baltimore Evening Sun, and Boston Herald American. Gwen Ifill spoke at the Manassas Campus in 2007 and at the Alexandria Campus in 2011 as part of African American History Month.
