The third annual Advancing Classified Excellence (ACE) Conference brought together over 360 staff with a focus on professional development, recognition, and diversity.
Keynote speaker, Sylvia Baffour, provided insights on how to create healthy habits toward strengthening workplace relationships. There were 15 additional sessions on topics including diversity, wellness, campus safety, retirement, and technology training for participants. Post-conference feedback was mostly positive.
A lunchtime mixer session was introduced this year and it was a big hit. Many employees expressed interest in the opportunity to meet and learn about colleagues from different locations across the College. Colleagues from 13 departments hosted round tables featuring a variety of topics and activities, including trivia, games, and recipe sharing.
Attendees also brought food donations to the event to support the Green NOVA Bag program to help keep our food pantries stocked.
ACE committee members who helped plan the event include Katie Aimone, Charlotte Calobrisi, John Guszak, Trace Main, Dana Reilly, Kirsten Riddick, Tatyana Schum, and Chanee Singkarlvanich. Over 40 employees volunteered for the event to help organize and assist with the logistics throughout the day. Our wonderful volunteers were vital to the success of the event!
The committee greatly appreciates the NOVA facilitators and speakers, including Lisa Anderson, Linda Baughman, Alisa Berry, Hemchand Gossai, Christopher Hafen, Susan Idziak, Molly Lynch, Donna Patchett, Marie Schreibman, and John Weinstein.
