The Manassas Campus hosted an Administration of Justice Career Day. Students from seven local high schools and neighboring colleges joined NOVA students in exploring the various opportunities in a career in law enforcement. The event kicked-off with a panel discussion of distinguished panelists advising students. Panelists included Dr. Arlyn Brunet – section chief of DEA field support section, Instructor Dean Henderson – U.S. Department of State, Professor Aldous McCrory – former trial attorney, Sergeant Robert Megginson – Virginia State Police, Lauren Silver – medicolegal death investigator with Virginia Department of Health, Professor Dennis Staszak, Former FBI Counterintelligence Investigations and Lieutenant John Weinstein – Northern Virginia Community College Campus Police.
Following the panel discussion, students were able to visit displays from 35 local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Displaying the multiplicity of their departments, these agencies transported K-9, SWAT, motorcycle, forensic, mounted, bicycle, and aviation units, including a Humvee, patrol boat, helicopter, and command bus.
Students left with a greater understanding of how to achieve their career goals and incentivize themselves to continue.
Thank you to all of the professors from neighboring campuses who promoted this event to their students.
