NOVA’s Office of International Education and Sponsored Programs hosted a delegation of 12 students from Russia and Kyrgyzstan on The students, ranging in age from 18 to 22, were from different four-year colleges and universities and study in various disciplines. They traveled through an NGO and plan to carry the important message of the benefits of a community college back to other students in their regions.
Kathy Thompson of OIESP presented on higher education in the United States and where community colleges fit into the higher education structure. The guests learned of the many benefits that NOVA offers students, including direct access to faculty due to smaller class sizes, a more affordable college education, the ability to transfer to highly-competitive four-year schools and the tremendous diversity of the faculty, staff and student body. The students were led on a tour of the Annandale Campus by Annandale Student Ambassadors. The group hopes to establish an ongoing dialogue with NOVA with sights set on the possibility of future partnerships.
