Brian Anweiler Leaves NOVA After 10 Years

After working at NOVA for 10 years, Brian Anweiler left, accepting a new role as the Athletic Director at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, NC.

Anweiler started at NOVA in January 2009 as the college-wide Student Life Coordinator after spending 17 years at Tallahassee Community College.

“I will always be grateful for the professional opportunities that NOVA has provided me,” said Anweiler. “I am thankful that I have been able to positively impact the institution and change the culture in a meaningful way through new programs and initiatives.”

He worked with students and faculty/staff on college-wide initiatives including intercollegiate athletics, recreation, student media, student leadership recognition and development, student government, and supported numerous other initiatives behind the scenes.

While at NOVA, Anweiler managed the transition from club sport status for most athletic teams to membership in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in 2011 and initiated the creation of a mascot logo and the Nighthawk name. He also was responsible for establishing the new Esports program in 2018.

“Brian is a great student success champion. He was integral in building our student athletic program to a national level, allowing our students an opportunity to engage and participate at all levels. We will miss him dearly,” said Frances Villagran-Glover, VP of Student Services.
