More than 200 students took advantage of the opportunity to meet with recruiters from top government contracting firms at the GovCon Job and Internship Fair. Twelve companies visited the Higher Education Center at the Loudoun Campus to recruit NOVA students in fields related to computer science, and information and engineering technology. Participating companies included Amazon Web Services, Bart & Associates, Creative Systems and Consulting, Excella, General Dynamics Corp., Inductive Minds LLC, Intellidyne LLC, iWorks, NetCentrics Corp., SAIC, and Telos.
These students are part of the new wave of needed tech talent in the region. Washington, D.C., is ranked first in the country for cybersecurity positions with 65,000 jobs posted last year, more than any other metropolitan region on the country. Access for students to this employment sector is critical given that Northern Virginia is a hub for government contracting, with six of the top 20 government contractors being headquartered in this region.
The GovCon Career Fair allowed students to meet and learn about potential employers and provided a great opportunity for hiring managers to learn about the quality of NOVA’s students and programs.
