2019 NOVA Cap and Gown Gift Program

Graduation can be a very exciting time for students. However, for some, the cost of buying a graduation gown is an expense that tempers the enthusiasm of their academic achievement. The NOVA Foundation and Division of Student Services have partnered to create the “Cap & Gown Gift Program” to support students in need with free rental of graduation regalia (caps and gowns).

The cost to sponsor a student’s cap and gown is $55.00 and can be done through the NOVA Foundation website.

Select “Commencement Cap and Gown” as your designation when making your donation.

If you know of a student who may be experiencing hardship and who could benefit from the program, please refer the student to your campus Dean of Students office. The Dean’s office will be distributing tickets redeemable for the use of a cap and gown at the Spring 2019 NOVA Graduation ceremony on Friday, May 17.

This program was created to help alleviate some of the hardships of graduation expenses. With your help, we can ensure that students who are in need experience the memorable graduation day they worked hard to earn. Thank you for your help and consideration!

This is a great idea. I wish students could donate their gowns and the college have a place to keep them for the next class. I don’t know about donating hats but gowns could be used again. It would take a place to store them but maybe a place could be found to save them for the next class. If hats could be bought separately, it would cost less than $55 to donate one or maybe two. This would give students a way to “play it forward” without having to spend more money. Just a thought.

I would like to donate my cap and gown from last year’s graduation. Do you accept them for the rental program?
