NOVA Chef Mike Herbert gave a presentation about how to make an assortment of chocolate delicacies for the 9th annual Chocolate Extravaganza.
Chef Mike showed the attendees how to make chocolate cherry walnut fudge, chocolate peanut butter cups, and Oreo truffles. He also taught them how to melt and blend the chocolate, incorporate the ingredients, and roll, dip and coat the truffles. Then, he gave out samples of each, which the crowd thoroughly enjoyed.
Jo Ann Duron and Al Talacek from the Annandale Print Shop and students Agnesa Zalezakova, Kelly Brendel and Austin Garner came out to give their support. Everyone enjoyed Chef Mike’s treats, as well as the tastings and samples provided by local restaurants and bakeries.
The event also included a silent auction for goods and services donated by local area businesses and organizations.
Ed and Carol Hamen started the Chocolate Extravaganza in 2011 in memory of their daughter, Jenna, who lost her battle with cancer. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society and the 4Jenna Relay for Life team.
