November is National Career Development Month. This is a great time for us to think about what we’re doing to help our students participate in career development opportunities and navigate the world of work.
Here’s how you can help:
View the supporting students through their video to learn about the career development process and career resources. Also, learn tips on how to engage students in conversations about activities that support their career development. The video, along with a handout, are available within the faculty, staff, and administrator section of NOVA’s Career Services website.
Promote FOCUS 2 — an online, interactive, self-guided career and education planning system to help students learn about and select majors/programs and occupational fields.
Encourage students to use College Central Network (CCN) to search for jobs and internships specifically for NOVA students by local employers, access career advice, and to create resumes and online portfolios.
Share information about events sponsored by Career Services. All events are free and open to faculty and staff, students, and alumni. Topics include Career Planning, Job Search, Resume Writing and more!
A complete list of events is available on NOVA’s Events Calendar and on College Central Network.
Contact a NOVA career counselor/advisor for additional information.
