Three NOVA students have been hired for Lockheed Martin’s Software Development Associate Program (SWAP)! These opportunities arose from the recent partnership with Lockheed Martin and NOVA Workforce. Lockheed Martin is a global aerospace, defense, security and advanced technologies company with a presence in the Northern Virginia region. Lockheed Martin has partnered with NOVA Workforce to develop the skills of students so that, upon entry to the workforce, they are prepared for exciting and demanding IT jobs at Lockheed.
The three-year SWAP involves exposure to technologies and the development of skill sets in IT and engineering that are based on industry trends. Students in the program have the opportunity to gain experience and skills in team collaboration, project development and technical competency and receive mentoring.
Students completing their freshman year at NOVA in related IT fields are eligible candidates. A few of the qualifications to be accepted into the program include submitting an application for the program, being enrolled in an associate degree program, and earning at least a 3.2 GPA. Once accepted, students begin a security clearance process through Lockheed Martin. Tuition assistance is provided for the students who work toward a bachelor’s degree.
We are very excited for the talented and driven NOVA students who were selected for the program! We wish them well on their career journey with Lockheed Martin. We are also very grateful to the Lockheed Martin representatives who helped to make this partnership a success!
